Roddy was sitting with his nieces, Kayla and Isobel at Sherman's cafe. The cafe was brightly lit, so you could fully admire the murals done by the local artists on the walls of the quaint little place. They had just finished their Christmas shopping in Little Mall, the only one in Charmstead.
"Kayla, how can you not like video games?" He asked, incredulous.
"Unca Roddy, I preffa books, lik', lik'... Cinduhrulla," She said, looking at him out of her big brown eyes. Next to her, Isobel smiled slightly, taking her eyes off her phone glance at her uncle, who looked absolutely flabberghasted.
"But why?"
"'Cuz they'hr so beautahful!" She whispered, like she was talking about something mystical and otherworldly. She paused and then added, "Unca, I hope yah'ven't bought me a videuh gayhm..."
Isobel looked up then and said, "Me too, Uncle Roddy. She's too young for Tomb Raider. She'll be wanting implants or something by the time she even has boobs," Before bursting out laughing.
"When's your mother coming to pick you two up?" Roddy asked jokingly. Kayla and Isobel giggled at the same time as the person sitting behind them did. Roddy knew that giggle.
"Oh no," He said under his breath, just as Adele's head appeared above the high backed booth. She looked awfully smug, Roddy noticed. This was not going to be fun.
"You have wonderful nieces," She said, trying not to smile too widely.
"Thank you," Roddy replied, not meaning it.
"Brilliant taste, girls!"
"Thank yaa!" Kayla squaled happily. Adele winked at Isobel.
"Go away, Adele," A peeved (but at the same time, incredibly happy) Roddy muttered.
Adele gigled again and sat back down at her table. Roddy sighed. Isobel's eyes twinkled and a knowing smile crept onto her face.
"When's the wedding, Uncle Roddy?"
